RE: [ATM] Testing of polished surface

I put the flashlight behind the mirror and I look at the surface with a
loupe. Doing so, you cannot miss every single pit.
The mirror I can currently working on is perfectly polished out, even so,
the red laser pointer still shows what you describe. I don't think it is a
meaningfull test.
Happy figuring

Subject: [ATM] Testing of polished surface

Dear list,

it is still hard for me to decide if a mirror surface is polished enough
or not. I test it with a strong light and a loupe and look for those
star like reflections. My current project looks good, but when testing
with a red laser pointer tiny spots still stand out and sparkle like a
star field in the Milky Way.

Any suggestions as to when call a surface polished?

Chris (ready to work some more hours)
