[ATM] Pretoria eyepiece

David, Micheal, Ken...
Thank you.

Smith's pages are one of the best resources for ones interested in
eyepieces, for sure.
I've met them also in the past following the URL at the end of one of
Smith's e-mails on this list.

I've found a nice eyepiece compendium at:
http://members.shaw.ca/quadibloc/science/opt04.htm
There also designs less known and I've appreciated finding one by Dilworth.

They made come to my mind how computer have revolutioned the optical design.
Starting from these schemes in the '60s, leading to a different way in
approaching new designs, automated calculus allowed a new perspective: no
more estabilishing a basic design to be optimized, but also a way "let's
choose the surface number, and the PC make the rest". A very powerful mean,
allowing the design to evolve by itself without the limits of the optician
base ideas.

OK, I'll continue to search for Pretoria references. Today morning I'll go
to the Biblioteca in Rimini: I'll try to search for reeferences from the
Bologna University. Maybe I'll find something...
If someone, in the meantime, have something to add...

Clear Skies

Gianluca
