Laminating (as opposed to fusing the glass together) will make for a
disconuity in the glass which will retard the passage of heat and thus
increase the stress in the glass.  In addition, many of the glues used also
produce a stress in and of themselves as they expand with temp differently
than the glass does.
For the 3 points, a dime sized spot that is the thickness of two quarters is
fine.
