ATM Annoying Cerium Oxide Residue

Hello,

I am polishing my mirror (10" BVC) and after a polishing session, I always seem to end up with a thin,
blotchy, hazy film of CeO on the mirror.  It makes it difficult to judge how well the polishing is
going.

I have been taking the mirror directly from the tool to the sink and rinsing it off, using soap, etc.
but the film never really goes away.  Is there any trick to avoiding this problem?  The only
thing that seems to remove the film is more polishing...
