ATM How to pre-polishing

Hi,

I decided to try prepolishing my mirror with polishing
pads and #800 grit! After 1.25 hours I've got a nice
and smooth surface but no real polish. Should not grit
and pads give me some type of polish? My procedure was
to dust #800 on the mirror, mist the pads and place
the tool on the mirror. I sprayed the mirror now and
again to keep it humid. Could it be that #800 is too
coarse (its the finest I got!).

Another problem is that the polishing pads just seem
to come off after an hour. They donot seem to like to
stick to the tile tool.
