The lenses in our eyes are as poor as you can find. Color, coma, spherical, 
you name it...they're all there in significant amounts.
Such a lens mounted in a camera would produce miserable images.  Fortunately 
the brain is one seriously good image enhancement processor -- but only for 
the aberrations specific to our personal vision system.  There are 
exceptions, such as our "Sharpen" function isn't very efficient for 
out-of-focus images.

If we could only get the old noodle to also process out the same aberrations 
from EXTERNAL optical devices, we could forget all this figuring nonsense.
