That's the other side of the argument. I'll stay with the 9V battery as the
voltage at the end of life is relatively the same as that at the beginning
of life thus the light remains about as bright longer.
The two cell configuration means that you have to change the resistance more
to maintain the bright enough LED and that has to go to essentiall 0 ohms to
get the life with the battery.
