Re: ATM batteries for LED




The desire for max life of the battery is more the reason for the 9V battery
as it will still give a decent amount of light when it gets down to 6V
(actually below the end of life rating of the battery) if you have a pot to
contol the last little bit of brightness of the LED.  The 2 cell versions
get about 1/2 the life of the battery while the 3 cells do barely get the
full life if there is a pot to control the brightness.  Even without a pot,
the 9V battery will give a good full life.  Personally, I prefer to use a
wall wart to provide the 9V and connect it with a 9V battery connector so
that I can use a battery if desired.
I might note that 3 battery holders are rare compared to 2 and 4 cell
holders.
