I built a yoke mount first, it was very easy, then decided on a
horseshoe, the dificulty of construction was almost the same, if you buy
the big circle rather than make it. (I have the tools to make a large
circle but my local hardware shop had 10 different sizes of 3/4" plywood
circles already cut, for less cost than the plywood sheet it would take
to cut the circle from!). The rest of the mount is essentially the same. 

I don't have mine driven (yet!). Most of the methods used to drive a dob
should work for a yoke or horseshoe.
