ATM Amateur Astronomy on Slashdot
David Cash captured some film of the international space station using a
Celestron Ultima 9.25" telescope and a webcam.
Catch the slashdot discussion about it at:
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/06/11/2338200&mode=thread
Slashdot is mainly a news and discussion site for open source software ("News
for Nerds, Stuff that Matters") but they also discuss interesting science news.
Watch out though, the discussions tend to be a little, uh, "free-ranging".
There is moderation in the discussion, but no censorship, and people sometimes
post the most amazingly offensive things. But most of the stuff there is worth
reading.
I think it would be beneficial to the discussion for some ATM's to come by and
answer people's questions. I encouraged readers to grind their own mirrors in
this comment:

David Cash's actual page is at:
http://www.djcash.demon.co.uk/astro/webcam/webcam.htm
but his webserver is likely to fall over soon due to "the slashdot effect".
Getting slashdotted is the digital equivalent of having a herd of buffalo
stampede over your house.
They don't mention it on the slashdot post but David has some photos of planets
and stuff also taken with the webcam.
Best,
Mike
