Re: ATM Foucault test accuracy
Frank:
I'm unsure of what is meant by the blink method, could you enlighten me?
Here is what I do, right or wrong. (And I'll find out pretty soon, eh? Pass
the mirrors, please.) I consider the entire Couder window as a whole when
judging intensity. If the windows are wide and shadow movement is
discernable, I try to adjust the longitudinal KE position for equal onset of
shadow movement in each window. This happens on the 30% zone sometimes. I
should probably deviate from Texereau and make the inner two zones narrower.
I like Bill T.'s description of 3 out of 10 on the intensity scale. I think
that is about where I operate. I find the Couder mask works best for me at
f/6 and slower. I have used a pinstick for f/5 and f/4 mirrors and I think
I prefer pinsticks for f/5 and faster. Both methods produce good mirrors.
