RE: ATM Lerning to read ronchigrams.
Hi Steven,
I looked at my first ronchi test last evening, so I can't help there...
But I also built a tester using the Stellafane plans. Isn't it a moving
source tester? The light moves together with the Ronchi or Knife Edge
because they are both mounted on the movable stage. From what I understand,
it will be important to know if your tester's light source is fixed or moves
with the knife edge, when it comes time to do your figuring calculations...

Subject: ATM Lerning to read ronchigrams.
Hello all,
I am attempting to finish a mirror started by my father-in-law 25 years ago
and have successfully, well, set the project back 30 years. I have a basic
setup at home and have built my own fixed source foucault tester with a 100
line per inch grating (ala Stellafane web site).
Does anyone have a reading suggestion for learning to read ronchigrams?
They seem simple, which makes me fear I could interpret them wrong.
