On your upper tube attachment points......

I cut an arc the same size as the ring from 3/4"
plywood. Then I drilled for the holes at the angle
necessary. Then I cut the whole piece in half from
the sides and thru the two holes.  In the center  between
the holes of the inside piece I installed a 1/4 20 screw
that exited on the outside of the other piece. That screw held a knob.

After the two truss poles are slipped into the holes and bottomed
out the knob is turned capturing them with the tension caused by
the thickness of the saw kerf missing between one half of the
circles block and the other.

No loose parts and a solid landing every time.

If you choose this method or alter it to fit your needs remember
you can glue the secondary ring right on top of them leaving a
nice smooth outline.
