Start by cleaning the surfaces very clean and dry.  Dust will make a scratch
if you don't watch out!
Place the surfaces together carefully (no spacers) and you should see the
fringes appear under a floursecent light in a few moments as the pieces push
the air out along with any moisture that may be there.  If the pieces are
truely dry then the fringes should appear immediately.  This is the somewhat
dangerous way as there may become some dust or other dirt between the two
surfaces and if you push the two surfaces together you will end up forcing a
scratch on the surfaces.
When you want to remove them, lift the upper piece up directly and allow for
air to enter the space.  Don't lift so high things go bang tho.
