Re: ATM When is the paste at the end of a wet useful?

Don't know about funnels but there is a settling process for seperating out
the various grades of grit. It works fairly well when it is done several
times but should be done very carefully to just find grains over a certain
size or you may end up with some larger grains that just didn't fall fast
enough. If you make up a good fluidized bed system, you can do a decent
grading of the SiC but that's going to not be usefull unless you do a lot of
grit.
All of this discussion is more along how much you want to be a skinflint
with the grit. I've seen people that will use several pounds of grit where
another person may use half a pound for the same amount of grinding.
Personally, I bought a kit from Telescopics many years ago and have so far
done 2 8" scopes and am now playing on finishing a 8" Stevick-Paul design
(8" needs figuring, 6" are both finished) and still have some 80 grit and a
whole lot of everything else. Most people would have used up most of the 80
grit on the first mirror and needed more for the second. I admit that I am
very tight with my supplies.
