Does it have to be wind-up? I just picked up a BBQ rotisserie
motor at Princess Auto (http://www.princessauto.com) for $9.95
Canadian. It's small, self-contained, runs at approximately 1 RPM
and is powered by two D-cells. Enough torque to spin a piglet
(mmmm!).

I'm planning on using it to build a barn-door mount. I'll build
it a bit longer than necessary, see how fast the motor spins
under load, and then decrease the tangent length to get the
correct rate. Cheers!
