ATM Chamfering tool

Hey,

I just discovered a much better tool for beveling my mirror blanks.

I had previously used a small knife-sharpening stone to bevel blanks,
and its fine grit took a long time to make any progress.

Don't buy a regular wetstone... I bought a "Tile Dressing Stone" at
the Home Depot yesterday. The advantage of it is its coarseness. The
two-sided stone has 60 and 90-grit Silicon Carbide grains. Its sold
with tile products and is intended for cleaning up tile edges after
they have been cut. I think I paid $9 US.

This is the fastest cutting stone I've yet found for beveling and edge
dressing, I put less time into beveling my new 12.5" blank than I did
on a previous 4.25".

Smoothing and dressing the sides of the blank is taking a bit longer.
The molded blank (from United Lens) is a nice piece of pyrex, and is
smooth sided already; I just want to grind the sides to a uniform
appearance. I haven't tried the method of using a tile and
carborundum, it seems like all of the grit will end up on the floor...

Hope this helps someone...
