ATM Large Dobsonians With Good Eyepiece Positions
Hello,
I have been reading the posts about Clyde's Mersenne variation (haven't yet
found that S&T issue at my newsstand), and I have visited Michael
Pankratz's Icarus page. Both designs have really caught my interest.
What other resources are recommended for learning about large reflector
designs that locate the eyepiece at a reasonable height? Are there any
books that deal with this particular issue?
I have been thinking about how a folded Newtonian could make use of a
transfer lens to bring the focal plane down a couple feet more, without
increasing the size of the secondary (many thanks to Daniel Fundo for
sending me the article about transfer lenses). I'm sure someone else must
have tried this already, but I don't know where to look for information.
All recommendations, admonitions, suggestions, exclamations, and viscous
ridicule are welcome and appreciated.
Thank you.
