Is there a bug in the ATM archive search algorithm?
Just to satisfy myself that this subject has been discussed in some detail
I tried the following searches of the archives
(<http://www.system.missouri.edu/ics/staff/andy/ATM/ARCHIVES/> for those
who don't know):
thin and blank* - 313 hits over the life of the list
thin and mirror* - 1362 hits
thin and (blank* or mirror*) - 0 hits!!
I thought I understood the syntax of query construction, but obviously
something's not right here either with me or the archive's search algorithm.
BTW, as all but one list member probably realize there are enough success
and failure stories in the archives for any reasonably diligent person to
figure out the limits of thin mirror technology.

PS - a modest administrative suggestion for Mel: why not write up a
mini-faq to send with the welcome message to new subscribers? It would
include a brief description of the atm list's "charter", info on how, what,
and what not to post, and links to the main faq and archives. Might help
improve the s/n ratio a bit.
