Frank and all,
I felt the price information would be of interest to all on the list.  There
was no "advertising" put up, other than the contact information for Mr.
Nilesh's company.  Prices for items of all sorts are frequently posted on
the list, with nary a complaint.  Are you bothered because I posted the
prices for all of his mirrors instead of just one as several others did just
before my message?  I'm sorry, I fail to see the difference between telling
everyone what Mr. Nilesh would charge for one particular 12" mirror, and
what he charges for any size mirror.

There are indeed many fine people making fine products that are available to
ATMers.  Almost all of them have had references posted to their web sites,
or their e-mail, or had actual prices quoted from them placed on the list at
one time or another.  Price is not the ultimate factor in any of these
decisions -- most of us go by a combination of price/quality, and quality is
usually weighed heavier than price.  I have, in fact, posted a full price
list (for blanks) from a US vendor, when I called and got their price list
faxed to me and several people on the list asked me to post it.  I didn't
receive any complaints that time...?

If my posting was inappropriate, then I do indeed apologize.  It was not my
intention to tout one supplier over any other, and in fact I will most
likely NOT order a mirror from Galileo.  I posted the prices for
informational purposes only.  Perhaps I should have included the standard
disclaimer -- that I am not affiliated in any way with Galileo, and have no
interest in their business other than obtaining quality parts for building
telescopes.  Frank, I truly do apologize for offending you, no such offense
was intended.  I do think your response would tend to indicate that posting
prices for items we need is NEVER appropriate, and I do not agree with that
sentiment.  I'll leave it up to Mel to decide the issue, and if he agrees
with you I will not repeat my actions.  I value this list too much to do
anything that would degrade it.
