Re: ATM long-term lap preservation
>...best way to preserve (laps) for -- long period(s)?
I've let laps sit for months, pressed against their mirrors with a thick
cerium paste seperating them, all wrapped in wet towels and aluminium foil.
I've cold pressed such a conglomerations with 5 gal of water on top as
weight for at least two weeks without incident(1). I've just put laps in
paper bags and left them face up on a bacement shelf for years and brought
them back by scraping and a few days cold pressing.
I shy away from warm pressing, each time I warm press I find myself
channelling shortly there after.

1) Not entirely true, the lap was so well seated that it took enormous
effort to use for the better part of an hour.
