ATM long-term lap preservation

I am on vacation for the next two weeks, then back for a few short days
prior to departing for Stellafane. The 16" dental stone substrate lap will
be "resting" for the next three weeks to nearly a month. I figure it has
about another 2 hours to go before it will need re-channeling.

What is the best way to preserve it for such a long period of inactivity?
I was thinking of placing a wet towel over the top and putting the whole
shebang in a plastic bag in the coolest part of the basement.

Another possibility is to just try and shoehorn in another two more hours
of polishing before I leave and then just make a whole new one when it's
time to get back to the job?

Opinions?
