ATM Where to find optical encoders

I need to replace my encoders on my scope. They are the standard optical 
encoders 4000. I could just order them from orion or JMI, but it seems to me 
I am paying a lot for them. Is it possible to just order them from the 
original manufacturer and save some money? If yes, can you provide a name and 
ph. number and exact part number if you have that info also.
