ATM Collimation tool

Hi everyone,
I've made a collimation tool from a photo film can and this one has
cross wires. The problem is that the hole in the can is in the bottom of the
can, and the cross wires towards the open end (where I had to slice off the
small flange that holds the lid). Now when I peer through the hole in the
bottom, the cross wires are out of focus. Of course I can still make our
their interesection, but is this how its supposed to be? So far I've only
looked through it out into the open, haven't really used it on the 'scope
because its lousy, rainy weather here and I haven't had the chance to try.

Am I doing it right? So far I'd got OK collimation without the cross
wires but thought I'll go for a better setup with cross wires; mind you, I
still haven't found a way to keep the wires taut while the glue sticks so
they're a bit limp (any ideas?). I'm just using sewing thread for this first
attempt.

Clear skies,
balaya
