ATMing in the September Sky & Telescope

Hi Gang:

Those of you who attended the TSP earlier this year might remember a
gentleman by the name of Clyde Bone. If you didn't notice Clyde, you
probably noticed his scope -- it looked like a big Dob with a Tele Vue
refractor stuck on the side of it. It's hard not to notice something like
that. Although Clyde's scope might superficially resemble a Newtonian on a
Dobsonian mount, it is really something quite different (the refractor was
a clue).

Clyde's scope is in fact a Mersenne reflector, a design that doesn't get a
lot of play amongst ATMs. Given the number of interesting features this
scope has, that is something of a surprise. Perhaps after some of you have
seen Clyde's piece in the September Sky & Telescope this will change.

Happy reading one and all!
