ATM / Increasing the emissivity of glass

Hi,

I got to thinking today,  there are ways to increase the surface area
of an object...

By taking a flat surface (the back of a mirror) and texturing it by
very rough grinding or even grooving,  the surface area goes way up. 
Increasing the area of an object's surface seems like an easy way to
increase its heat transfer to its surroundings.  This might help alot
in bringing an objective to thermal equilibrium.

Has anyone pursued this idea?
