ATM Glass blanks & crayford stuff
Hi all,
Tim Walters dropped by and gave me the
14" Dia. 1" thick
plate glass blank that is cut with a high
pressure water
jet I had ordered from him.
Impressive peice of glass.
The blank really has a clean edge. I will
have to
bevel the edges to insure I don't get any
edge chips. It
will be awhile before I start on it
though. I still need
to finish the 10" Dob. I plan on
a F/4.5 open truss design
when I go for the gold.
I have completed another of the
drawings of my crayford
focuser. This one shows the details
for making the bearing
guide support post that the tube rides
against, tools required,
and location of relavent parts on the
focuser body, etc.
The next drawing should be for the parts
labeled "B", "C", and
the focuser tube alignment brace shown in
the first file. After
that I will do the drawings on the focuser tube assembly itself.
That last drawing will take some time to complete. My cursed
wrist permitting. I have taken some
close up shots with my
35mm close up Macro lens. If any turn
out halfway decent enough
to post I will this comming week. If
not, well back to the "How
to take photos" book and another roll
of film. :)
For those who maynot be
aware of my last announcement about
said drawings and are interested they can be seen at
my web
page listed at the end of this
message. Go to the link
"Dobsonian" in the
main page text and from there click on
"Crayford focuser" listed on the left.
Drawings are
accessed at the bottom of that
page.
Enjoy the clear skies to those who have
them. We sure don't
here in the Atlanta area.:(
