Another possibility is the "J" configuration where a mirror at the bottem 
brings the light halfway up the tube, and a second small mirror reflects it 
out the side giving a viewing height about 5ft regardless of where the tube 
is pointing. This design may lend itself to a "double truss tube" 
configuation that comes apart into two 4 ft nesting sections. The mount 
could be an equatorial or alt-az.

Sounds like fun, so who has an extra 12" lens....???
