ATM Mat paint & reflective surfaces in baffling
You are using gloss black on the tube an it might be blacker looking but I
wonder what the absorption/refectivity truly is. I don't know if you can just
"eyeball" something and say that it would be a good light absorber especially
if you are going to be using a CCD that can see outside the visible light
spectrum.
Anyway, I understand that a good baffling system might have a combination of
reflective surfaces and aborbing surfaces. For instance, you might want to
coat the upper surface of those "donut" baffles with mylar that would refect
off-axis light back out the tube into space instead of absorbing it into a
black surface within your tube. The idea is that any light that your
absolutly don't want... just reject it outright instead of trying to absorb
it.
What do you think? Jay
