Nebula filter is definitely useful, I always use it whenever I look at
nebula. From my backyard, the Lagoon Nebula is barely visible without
the filter. Even M42 looks different with nebula filter, it looks best
with it. 

But I have different opinion on moon filter. I do not have moon filter,
like Hervey I always wear my sunglasses whenever I observe the moon.
Without the sunglasses even the first quarter moon  is too bright. IMHO,
you better save the money and use it to buy something else, nebula
filter for instance and wear your sunglasses when viewing the moon,
besides you'll look great wearing sunglasses in the dark of the night
:-)
