Predicting the future is anyone's guess, but, looking at CCD cameras,
the SITe back illuminated chips will continue to the choice of
professionals and amateurs that can afford them.  There is nothing in
the wings, no manufacturing process, no technological breakthrough, that
is likely to change this for the forseeable future.
