While at the UW I built a broadband laser beam dump from a stack of single
edged razor blades, their aluminum backs screw drivered open and pulled
off.  Eighty blades bolted through the center made a dump about an inch in
width and blacker than night.  Its counter intuitive that the highly
reflective angled faces of the blades edge could could give rise to a black
so dark.  Twice people in the department insisted on touching it's face.
Hey, I warned him.  I even showed him my own thumb.
