ATM 1.25" vs 2" diagonal on refractor

Hi All,

I've been off the air for a while...searched the archives....and need your
input.

Other than long focal length, very wide field oculars... is there any
advantage to using a 2" diagonal rather than a 1.25" on an f9 refractor?
How about with wide field shorter ones (24.5mm & 18mm at 67 degrees - 12mm
Nagler at 82 degrees, etc)?

How can I determine (other than visual comparison through the ocular) which
diagonal is required?
