Definitely cover that shiny metal!

One method is to spray paint some sandpaper flat black [100 grit or
coarser], roll it up, and lightly glue it in place.  A generous coating
of paint should prevent the grit from falling off.

Another way is to roll up some wire [or string] into a helix shape
inside the tube and spray or dab that flat black.
