What is the difference between a Cheshire Collimator, and an Auto
Collimator. Some information indicates they are both needed. Thanks...
A Cheshire will use a peep hole and cross hairs. The auto collimator using
a peep hole that is through a flat mirror in the ep that reflects back down
through the optics of the scope.
This is an over simplification of the differences.
Most will agree that both are used as a set. First using the Cheshire to
get as close as possible then finish up with the auto collimator. On a fast
scope if you don't do this you'll be lucky to get started with the auto
collimator.
