ATM Master Plumber Focuser

The subject helical focuser was featured in a TM article (##36? I believe)
having as its main component a toilet flush valve.  I constructed a similar
one as a weekend project while waiting for my hyperbola to cool between 
testing, just modified the materials for the 1 1/4" adapter, has anyone
else made a focuser from the same/similar plastic ?  It is probably not of
great precision, haven't got the mirror to test it with yet, but for about 
$10 I was game to try it. Any good points? Bad? Any other ready made
machinesd sources out there for a focuser?  Any comments appreciated.
