Re: ATM Grease and Optics
Just an interesting note, aluminium on aluminium is one of the rare
contacts which has a static coefficient of friction less than its
dynamic coefficient of friction, the only other one I know of is
grifon on grifon (a mixture of graphite and teflon.) This property is useful
as it stop sticking and surging on start up. Of course aluminium
on aluminium almost always galls eventully, maybe anodizing helps here
but I don't know what it does to the friction coefficients.
I've heard about a new material, a mixture of delrin and teflon which
is not suppose to cold flow. I'm sure that that is a split infinative, but
what to say instead. ...not suppose to flow cold.
