aligning secondary

I have a 8" f/7 mirror in a 10" ID tube. I am using a 1.3" secondary on a
4-vane spider. My problem is that I can't seem to be able to center the
secondary in the focusser. The focusser is a 2-inch low profile with a
1.25" adapter. I've used the film canister trick, and made my own
collimation tools, but I still can't get the secondary centered! Sorry, I
can't afford a laser collimator, so that one's out. Can anyone help?
