Using an eyepiece with Foucault test

I've seen mentioned a few times the idea of using an eyepiece to make the process of doing the Foucault test more accurate/easier.

Could someone explain what kind of eyepieces would work for this and where they should be positioned? I have a few Plossls and that's it. I presume this shows a formidable lack of understanding about how eyepieces work, but I've tried positioning them in the vicinity of where I look past the knife edge (slitless tester), but that doesn't produce any useful views. Thanks for any help.
