Well, today I purchased a big chunk of aluminum to actually make a vacuum
pan for figuring the correctors on some small (5.7") Wright telescopes that
we are hacking on at the Chabot Observatory. The total cost for the aluminum
was around $15. The chunk I got is about an inch and three eighths thick,
which is definitely overkill for this project. A simple twofooted sphereometer,
and I think I will be ready for my first non-newtonian project.
Now, if only Bob Pfaff could finish his series of postings, I might have a
clue on how to do this :)
