They say a slit type works just as well as the pinpoint, and is considerable brighter, making the figure easier to discern. The standard diagonal for a six inch would be in the 1.25 to 1.5 range, unless you were hell bent on buying a two inch eyepiece. Remember, the smaller the diagonal, the sharper the image. The traditional maximum has been: diagonal minor axis=primary diameter/4.
