I asked the same question of Bob Goff (RIP) and his answer was, 
"Don't worry about it."  I'd guess you'd want to worry a little - 
when pressing the lap, you don't want to end up with a bulge in the 
middle.  Maybe treat it as a Mel Bartels oversized lap or just make a 
hole in the lap to match the mirror's hole, then you've got a second 
edge - which will probably be in the secondary shadow.
