The materiel to use is the HD grade of press board such as is used for
counter tops. This is available in 1" thickness and is very hard and
stable. It should be waterproofed though and I coat all the tools I make
this way with polyester resin. I've never had warping problems. Any
Home Depot or other large supplier always has this stuff in stock.
