The usual is to put a slider bearing assy. on one of the two
idler supports for the glass.  The other one is often driven at a
fairly slow speed according to the speed desired to grind the
glass. The grinding wheel is usualy stationary as that is the
hardest one to move. A water resovoir  under the wheel will make
the grinding easier and less prone to killing off a grinding
stone.
