The nippers will work fine.  Don't try to nip the whole tile but
rathr just grab it at one side and let the crack propagate across
the rest of the tile as is will go.  I don't use less than half a
tile on my tools and don't allow the tiles to go all the way to
the edge of the tool.  This means that the tiles are fully
contained in the pjoured stone matrix and thus they won''t fall
out or cut the edge of the mirror.
When doing the tool, the big problems happen when several ties in
an area aren't mating to the gglass.  Having one or two tiles in
an area that are only partially contacting the glass isn't a
problem.
