indeed. here is a mount Q. I need a portable mount for a 6" f11 acope. I'm
only interested in planets with this scope. the grey fuzzies I've seen haven't
changed since I was born and won't change till long after I've died so I figure
I'm not missing much. :-) but rocks in the sky are purty not to mention, easy
to find...

here are some design limits:

handicap friendly. my hands/arms are dammaged (rsi) and so any fine movement or
heavy lifting would be a problem.

portable. My tree profile means 4 observing areas (2 back yard 2 drive way/
front yard)

not dependent on seeing north for alignment (more trees to north).

driven (tracking rocks in sky, webcam imaging)

low complexity electronics. ( I mean really low as in < 10 components :-) ac
sync motor or stepper using modern stepper drive chips.

originally I wanted tp avoid embedding a computer because it seemed like a bit
of overkill to track planets but I can if needed. I have one machine I can
really embed. a dell laptop (p3/650). It has a very cracked case so it can be
disassembled and mounted someware in the scope mount. this machine could be
used to track planets and run the webcam.

set up and go. (see bad hand friendly) I may end up using 2 -3 locations in 2-3
hours so setup time is an issue. lugging gear is big no-no. was thinking of
wheelbarrow like arrangement to move the bundle and corner screws to level the base.

alt az vrs equatorial. I'm good with both as long as I can align "good enough"
using 2 -3 stars. (remember, I can see north only from backyard viewing locations)

so, any suggestions?
