A pro already knows what he's got to order, the types of glass
and so forth that are desired. For example, I'd have just called
the guy up and said:
Need two pieces of BK7, Grade A, 13.2" diameter and .87" thick
blanchard ground to moderately flat with both pieces cut from the
same melt.
After a few seconds, the guy would ask for an address and payment
method and the conversation would be done.
The amateur will want to know what the grades of glass that are
available and what the difference between them is and if it will
work for his application and so forth for a long time.
I didn't order an curve generation as I can do that myself
without any problems but if I had, I'd have specified the curves
on each piece with the proper terms, verifying that what I said
is what I wanted by insuring that one piece was going to end up
as a double convex while the other piece was going to end up
double concave.
