Others have given motor sources for syncronous motors. Some are
low voltage and some are 120V ones. Don't worry about the
voltage as you can always adapt to that voltage. A 12V
transformer running backwards (and you only need a really small
one as the motors are usually in the 6W range) can easily provide
the 120V for that rated motor. Needless to say, those who run on
220V/50Hz will easily find that sized transformer in their areas.
Another is to take a small power inverter (you know, the car to
line power dongles that go for $30 or so) and convert it to a
drive corrector by controlling the frequency of the chip that
does the oscillating. I've got an article on my website dealing
with this subject and it probably needs a little bit of updating
for some of the new chips out there that are being used.
Unfortunately, I can't go about buying convertors every year or
so, looking for new chips that they might be using but I am happy
to help anybody that runs into a new one.
