Re: [ATM] motor drive question

Maybe. Look over this to get a better idea:

Look up:
Quantity in Basket: none
Code: TM93KIT2421
Price: $24.50

I purchased one about five years ago (it was cheaper then, ask if it is driven by a 555). IIRC, I just changed one resistor to get 1 rpm. You can get the parts a radio shack, but here they are in a bag and they should have a stepper that will work for you...

Is that the sort of thing I might find at a radio shack?

Hello,

I would recommend finding a "kit" stepper motor driver circuit based on
the 555 timer. You can do a web search to find the formulas to modify
the 555 circuit to drive the stepper at 1 rpm. A unipolar stepper can be
found at many surplus dealers. This is what worked for me.

Jarvis,

That's what I suspected. I timed it out roughly last night and it came
out
to 1rmp per 12 minutes. I wasn't sure if I could get an appropriate gear
to
step it up. How difficult are 1rmp motors to come by? Does anyone know
of
any common sources?

Eric
