No idea honestly, but I have used several different lenses (5 lenses, 4 cameras) 
and all of them produce the same answer.

#1 Philips ToUCam w/ two different lenses.
    A) Cannon C-mount 16-100 zoom lens
    B) A single dual convex lens with a 35mm focal length
#2 Sony HandyCam (video tape recorder)
#3 Sony DSC-F707 (5MP digital still camera)
#4 An unknown and Ancient VHS camera

Of all the cameras above, I did run some tests on the webcam with the DCX lens, 
here are some pictures:

BTW, the Human Eyeball is a terrible lens / detector system, and an eye at the 
knife edge is industry standard for several well known companies.
